If you search for “Italy” online, you’ll likely find the same familiar images over and over again: golden sunsets, endless plates of pasta, beautiful women, old men playing cards in the piazza, a dramatic soundtrack from La Dolce Vita playing in the background. And of course, pizza, the Mafia, and mandolins.
It’s almost comforting in a way, isn’t it? As if Italy were a postcard that never changes.
